You read that right. There are people out there working long hours, for little pay, and in dangerous conditions.
But we’re not going to stand for it. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, no matter what their job is. That’s why I am writing this blog, to bring awareness and to make a difference in the lives of people who are often forgotten.
I can’t do it alone, though. I need your help to make a change in the world. So please read this post and see what you can do to help us make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

She sat across from me with tears in her eyes. Telling me how she was being made to work 14-16 hrs days, being paid for 8 hrs, and finishing her shift at a time when transportation was no longer available late at night. She would have to get her own transportation, during times when cab drivers were picking up girls late at night and on the way to the drop off, raping them.

She was one of many. Some were married. Some had young infants.

There were men as well, who spoke of long work days and not being paid for the hours worked. Completely broken.

Common theme was local management did not care and Western Management turned a blind eye, because Indians were cheap labour and who gives a shit about them. If something happens, there are billions that can replace them.

As an Indian, I spoke up to the Western Management to explain what I saw. I expressed my hurt and disappointment at seeing my people being treated this way. I, myself, was born and raised in India. Coming from a political family, royal family, I felt a duty to help.

What was the response?

I found I had a target on my back. The Western (US) executives were troubled at my disclosures and felt their business model will be negatively impacted if word got out. The Indian management, targeted the local staff to keep their mouths shut or not only will they lose their jobs, but they will not get any other jobs.

With the right leadership, there CAN be a win-win situation. The will, desire, and skillsets needs to be there.

I leveraged my network to derive change. Even if it was incremental. I tried to engage, enable, and empower my teams.

What have you done today to make someone's life better?
