Do you have a manager or colleague who makes your life at work miserable?
Whether they embarrass you in front of others, make you feel belittled, treat you unfairly, limit your growth or bully you?
Dealing with these bullies can be difficult, but it's important to confront them head-on.
In this blog post, we will discuss how to deal with workplace bullies and reclaim your work environment!

Definition of Bully: seek to harm, intimidate, or coerce

Definition of Leader: Leaders may push others to achieve at their best and think creatively. Leaders are change agents and have a clear image of the company's future. Leaders focus on long-term growth strategies for the organization. Leaders are proactive and try to avert problems.

If you're dealing with a toxic manager or colleague, the first step is to assess the situation. What exactly are they doing that's making your work life difficult? Once you've identified the problem, you can start to develop a plan to address it.

One way to deal with a bully is to directly confront them about their behaviour.

This can be difficult, but it's important to be assertive and stand up for yourself. You might say something like, "I don't appreciate being treated this way" or "I'm not going to tolerate this anymore."

If the bully doesn't back down, you can escalate the issue by speaking to a supervisor or HR representative.

But keep in mind that HR is designed to protect the company and its leadership, and not necessarily you.

But it's a step you have to take in the process. If HR is unable to assist you, you then have the option to proceed to senior management to enlist their support. Finally, if you find that you are unable to get any support from your organization, it then might be time to reach out to an employment lawyer to review your options.

It's also important to take care of yourself both physically and emotionally. Toxic colleagues can be stressful, so make sure to take breaks, get exercise, and eat healthy foods. You might also want to talk to a therapist or counsellor about how to deal with the stress of the situation.

If you're dealing with a toxic colleague, remember that you're not alone. There are ways to deal with the situation and reclaim your work environment!
