We want to make sure that we're always putting our best foot forward and hiring someone who can help us exceed our own abilities and deliver the results. That's why it's important to take into account all of the factors involved in making this decision.

Do you need to hire someone you need but may not want? So if you're ever faced with the dilemma of hiring someone who exceeds your own abilities, don't be afraid to take the plunge. It might just be the best decision you ever make.

There are times when we hire someone who we think could be a strong part of our team because they have skills and capabilities that can supplement and complement us and the team.

But as soon as we hire that person, we quickly realize that that person actually has skills, experiences, and leadership capabilities that are far exceeding our own.

And when our team and our senior leadership start to take notice, we may feel inadequate and regret the hiring decision.

It's a dilemma that we've all faced at some point in our lives - the hiring decision.

At some point in our lives, we've all been in a position where we're faced with a dilemma - do we hire the candidate who can get the job done or do we hire a candidate who will not outshine us?

Usually, we choose the second option because it makes us feel secure. We know what to expect from someone who will not outshine us, and there's no risk of feeling inadequate or insecure.

But sometimes, it's better to take that chance on the more skilled candidate. They might end up exceeding our own abilities, but that's a risk worth taking.

After all, a team is only as strong as its weakest member. By hiring someone who is stronger than us, we can only make our team stronger. And that's something worth striving for.

But what is the risk if we cannot handle our own insecurities or feelings of inadequacies? We run the risk of mistreating the person we hired. Either consciously or subconsciously, we do the following:

- You might find you are descoping their role.

- You might find that you are leaving them out of meetings and emails.

- You might find that you are belittling them in meetings.

- You might find that you directly or indirectly cause, the team, a team which he/she put together, to go against them.

-  You might find you negatively impact their year-end performance evaluations.

- You might find say negative things to the senior leadership to change their view of them

- And so on......

And when you do this, when you suddenly turns against them, it can have a profound impact on them in the form of:


  1. Stress.
  2. Anxiety.
  3. Panic Attacks.
  4. Depression.
  5. Feeling of Hopelessness.
  6. Feeling of Isolation.
  7. Runaway Thoughts.
  8. Anger.
  9. Rage.
  10. Sadness.
  11. Fear.
  12. Lack of Energy.
  13. Lethargic.
  14. Body Aches.
  15. Chest Pains.
  16. Indigestion.
  17. Gas.
  18. Insomnia.
  19. Audible Hallucinations.
  20. Visual Hallucinations.
  21. Headaches.
  22. Eye Aches.
  23. Itchiness.
  24. Breathlessness.
  25. Lack of Appetite.
  26. Trust Issues
