People are often told to focus on the progress and not the pain they are feeling.
This can lead to frustration and a lack of motivation. Addressing the root cause of the pain is essential if real progress is to be made.
I believe it's important to understand why you're experiencing pain in order to address it. Only when the root cause is understood can real progress be made.
Continue reading to learn how to address the root cause of your pain!

There are quite a bit of posts on Instagram, Tik Tok and even on LinkedIn about not focusing on the pain, but focusing on the progress.

I had to let this sink in for a bit.

People were talking about how It's natural to feel pain or discomfort when trying to better themselves, but people should focus on the progress they making rather than the pain they are experiencing. And if this is done, they are more likely to stick to their goals and see real results!

If it works for you, go for it.

For me, with my emphasis on logical reasoning, I have another take on this.

In the world of IT, we have what's called service disruptions. These are issues that have some degree of impact on the business. When we have the service disruptions, the primary goal is to respond to these disruptions and resolve them in a timely manner. Once the issue is resolved, we then focus on what is the root cause of the service disruption and what were the contributing factors. If the root cause is not addressed that means, although the issue has been resolved, for now, it can resurface again at any time.

So when I take a look at that meme, which says don't focus on the pain but rather focus on the progress to me it is not helpful. For me, I need to understand why am I experiencing that pain? What is causing that pain? What do I need to do to address the pain? What do I need to do to avoid the pain? Only when I understand the pain, it's cause, and more importantly, its impact, then can I move forward. Otherwise, that pain will continue to hold me back or keep re-surfacing to derail me.

In this blog, we will discuss the following areas:

1. Understand why you're experiencing pain

2. Address the root cause of the pain

3. Focus on progress, not just the pain

4. Celebrate every victory, no matter how small

5. Keep going, even when you don't feel like it

No matter how small the victory may be, it's important to celebrate it! Every step forward is a step in the right direction and should be acknowledged. This helps to keep motivation high and provides a sense of accomplishment.

When faced with difficult obstacles, it can be easy to lose focus or give up entirely. However, by celebrating every victory, no matter how small, we can maintain our momentum and continue on our journey towards our goals.
