Breaking the Silence: My Horrific Experience with an Indian Manager and How We Can End Toxic Leadership Today
In my effort to improve the working conditions of the Indian IT Support staff, I have been speaking to a lot of people regarding their personal experiences. Below, I wanted to share one such experience from someone who was adversely affected by an Indian Manager.
I feel compelled to share my story of working with an Indian manager who made my life a living hell. It's time to speak up and raise awareness about toxic leadership, regardless of where it comes from.
My manager had a leadership style that was downright abusive. They would bark orders, micromanage, and make accusations without any evidence, which made me and my colleagues feel small and helpless.
But that's not all. My manager also treated people differently based on their gender and race. They would openly favor white people, while treating others, such as fellow indians and women with disrespect and disdain. This created a hostile work environment where we all felt like we were walking on eggshells.
When we raised our concerns, my manager would simply ignore us and continue with their bullying tactics. They never listened, never communicated effectively, and never took any steps to create a safe and inclusive workplace.
But I'm not going to sit here and let this happen to others. I want everyone to know that this kind of behavior is not acceptable, no matter who you are or where you come from.
I want to emphasize that not all Indian managers are like this, and I do not intend to perpetuate harmful stereotypes or biases. However, it's important for organizations to recognize and address toxic leadership behaviors, regardless of where they come from.
If you've ever experienced similar situations, please come to me. I want to hear your story, I want to offer my support, and I want to help you take action. Let's create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and heard.
